I pulled an all-nighter to hit a deadline, and I followed it up with quality time with family, I ended the weekend by tidying up my studio and writing a plan for the week. My challenge is juggling studio time and family life, but I believe family just makes me more effective.

It definitely does! I was just ruminating this week about how we keep telling women they need to either "have it all" or sacrifice kids for independence and work. I say your family is the thing you should be working to enjoy and, in turn, inspiring your creative side.

This weekend my wife and I attacked our house-washing project, which meant climbing up on ladders to spray 30-second cleaner on our mildewy and dirty roof, the scrubbing and power-washing it off. This might sound like hell, except for the fact that it reminds us that 32 years into our marriage, we still love to tackle big projects together, and we’re still able to. Cheers to staying fit and staying in love.

Ahhhh! This gave me the warm fuzzies! There's really something to be said for the mundane parts of marriage — somehow the folding laundry or problem solving together sounds more romantic to me than bouquets of roses.

Also, power washers are AMAZING.
